The smallest of offending dust danced in the air of the new Hollow’s home, ‘a Hollow in Devil’s Hollow’ Lilliana thought ironically. Her sky eyes watching as the last of the men carried their new furniture into the den while her mother fussed over what went where and her father hid himself in his newly polished library. A unamusing scene from where she stood forgotten against the kitchen wall- seducing her to leave the ‘home’ just to not scream at the sheer injustice of it all. ‘She should not be here!’ A phrase uttered familiarly across her mind.
Moving an invisible lock of blonde hair from her face Lilliana sighed, she had made her decision and knew even in the recklessness of it she would not be discovered till morning. So she moved silently from her standing ground and slipped through the servant doors only to be greeted by a lowering sun. It left the sky is a dream coat of colors and caused the first smile on Lilly’s face to form in days. Then, once she was settled on the sleepy street, Lilliana began to walk- allowing her feet to take her wherever they chose to roam. A breeze flew through her as she listened to her own heels click against the pavement and spotted the perfect place to seek the piece of freedom she craved.
The sea held such promises that Lilly could not hear on land and it made her shudder to look over its vast depths. Her shoes had long been forgotten in the ensnarement of the situation and her feet now lay buried in the sand as her face drifted from water to sky. Large streaks of red, orange and blues painted itself over the heavens as the sun lay itself to sleep over her head, the sea calm in wait. It was the first taste of peace that she had felt since arriving at this little town two days prior and Lilly found herself relieved in it. In fact, she even found herself doing the most unladylike of things and sat kneeling at the water edge as she felt the waves with the palms of her hands.
‘Happiness is what you make it’ William had told her once....She doubted he had foreseen circumstance.
