Luke sat in his large green chair in his bedroom, starring at the ceiling, with his hands crossed over his lap. His mind was wide awake, twirling and wheels spinning. His foot bounced and twitched with energy. He could not stop thinking about her. What was she doing right now? She was probably in bed, like most people are at this hour. He stood up and began pacing around his bedroom.
Minutes passed, and Luke was still anxious and wide awake. He just couldn't take it anymore. They had seen each other several times in the last few weeks, and he had grown very fond of her. It was nothing official yet, neither one had declared it to the rest of the community that they wanted to be together. But they were certainly getting close. There was something special about this girl, and he just couldn't get enough of her.
He threw up his arms in frustration. That was it. It was decided. He grabbed his jacket off the back of the chair, swung it over his shoulders, and walked out of his room, quietly shutting the door behind him. He sneaked down the stairs, careful not to make a sound, and headed for the door.
A light flicked on, James the Butler looked at him, Luke smiled back. James rolled his eyes and turned to go back to bed. James was used to this by now, but little did her or anyone else know, that this was different, for once. Luke bolted out the front door, doing a slow jog down the street. He was headed right to her house.
He slinked up to the front gate, hoping his dark suit blended into the night. He pushed the gate open slowly, glad that it didn't make a sound. At least they kept it oiled. He crept over the grass, slightly moist from a previous rain. The air had a chill to it, but Lucas hardly noticed with the adrenaline pumping through his veins. He counted the windows, left to right, up and down. Yes, he found it, and then just prayed he got it right.
He searched the ground for a few small rocks, and rolled them over in his hands, hoping this was not going to get him into trouble. Eh, the hell with it. She was worth it. Or so he hoped. Last time he thought a girl was worth it...well, she wasn't.
He arched his arm, and through the pebble right at Krystins window. It hit, making a soft 'clink' sound. He waited, but when she did not appear, he tossed another one, and another one. "Krys!" He tried to yell but whisper at the same time. He looked over his shoulder, making sure he had not woken anybody up.

Krystin sighed as she walked towards her room with a small glass of water. It had been another one of those days where her and her brother had argued over whom he wanted her to marry, but now… he had started to threaten to send her to St. Augustines…. That night. Now Krystin definitely could not afford that. Not with Luke here and unaware that she could have been sent away from him tonight…
With a soft sigh she removed her baby blue necklace with the small sapphire that was almost like a choker on her, and placed it on her bed side table. With an absent mind, her right hand ran feather soft fingers over the scar that had refused to disappear all those years ago… What was it now? Three? Or maybe even Five years?
Shaking her head slightly, Krystin focused her thoughts on Luke, a warm smile creeping onto her face automatically. She felt her heart warm at the thought of him also. After the past few weeks, Luke proved to be quite the charmer… and definitely a gentleman at times, with a hint of flirting too.
Hearing her brother’s bedroom door close, Krystin sighed softly before sitting up in her bed, her legs crossed in an Indian style as she sat in a chemise. The dark silk laying softly against her own soft skin; It was about ten minutes later when she heard a few small pebbles hit her window. Grabbing her cloak she got up and went to the window. Opening it up, she smiled down at Luke.
“Luke? I didn’t know you were coming tonight”
She chuckled softly as she listening quietly, making sure she kept her voice down low as to not wake up her brother. Suddenly she got an idea to just see where he would take her tonight.
“Give me a moment, I’ll get dressed and come out to you.”
With a warm smile, Krystin disappeared back into her room after shutting the window quietly. As silent as she could, she put on a pale blue dress that wouldn’t need a corset for… this was she was able to get dressed quickly. Although, she tried her best to keep from the window in order to keep from letting Luke get a view. When she was finished she snuck out of her room before heading out of the door through the kitchen, knowing that the cook knew what she was doing. With a smile to the old man, she paused; seeing as the cook told her to wait a moment before handing her two small, freshly baked cakes.
“Thank you John. This is kind of you.”
The older man smiled as he hushed her out the door. His face cheery as it always was when he spoke to her. Heck the man thought of her as his own daughter.
“Just be safe now you hear me, Krystin? No need to be getting in any trouble with that boy. Now go to him and enjoy those cakes.”
Krystin smiled once more before heading out of the door and over to where Luke was standing under her window. With a warm smile she held up the two cakes, offering him one.
“Our cook was up late. He gave these to me for us to have.”
As usual, Krystin’s hair was hanging down and around her shoulders. The moonlight catching both the soft color of her dress and the golden color of her hair. Words: 579

Luke waited silently in the dark, hoping she had heard him. She he finally saw her coming to the window and opening it, her smiled up at her. "Good evening, my sleeping beauty." He said, his voice full of flirtation, and temptation. "Would the fair maiden like to join me on a relaxing walk?" He had never seen her in her night gown before, and he smiled as he took it all in. He hoped she came down in something something, not one of those big dresses, they made too much noise when the lady walked.
When she closed the window he waited for her to come down. And when she did he could not help but smile at her. "Cakes? Wow, you must have a nice cook. He reached out his hand, taking hers into his and slowly began to walk away from her house, slipping through the front gate and down the road, into the darkness. He walked towards the park, still holding her hand. "I couldn't sleep, sorry if I woke you. But I guess I needed some company, your company."
As they approached a nice bench under a tree, an owl hooted nearby. "I hope your brother is not giving you too much trouble." Luke didn't know what he would do if she was married off, and not to him. Not that he had thought of it before... (lol) Luke, getting married? Yeah right. A cool breeze kicked up, and Luke took his jacket off, wrapping it around Krystin's shoulders, he didn't want her getting cold. "It's a beautiful night out, I'm glad you could step out and enjoy it with me." He said softly.

Krystin smiled warmly up at Luke as she walked next to him, enjoying the warmth of his hand holding hers, even though this night seemed to carry a slight chill to it. When she heard his voice as he spoke her smile only grew larger.
“Do not worry about it Luke. Besides, I was still awake. So no need to worry. Your company is always appreciated, that and I always look forward to seeing you Luke.”
Her smile stayed with her as she followed him, away from her house, out through the gate and then towards the park. When they arrived and began to approach a nice bench under a tree, her smile stayed; even as her ice colored eyes glanced up at the owl as it hooted out into the night, its sharp eyes probably looking for its next meal. Hearing him speak of her brother she simply nodded her head.
“It’s been back and forth kind of… Some days he seems more set on marrying me off to the first guy he deems good enough… and then other days… he threatens to ship me off to St. Augustines that night…”
She glanced down slightly as she leaned against him softly. Her voice growing just a tad bit softer as she spoke up once more.
“I hate to warn you Luke… but he has set a date… he… I’m being sent to St. Augustines this weekend on the night of Saturday…”
Stealing once glance into his lovely eyes, she wrapped her arms around his waist, the warmth that came from both him and the jacket he had placed around her shoulders was oh so comforting. She didn’t even want to think about the upcoming Saturday… though she knew she would put a fight up with her brother on the way there… until he either decided to turn around and allow her to stay back home; or until her fighting died down. In truth, Krystin really hoped that she would be the one to last till the end. She did not want to leave Luke back here. Shaking her mind she glanced up at him with a soft smile.
“I apologize for throwing that at you but…i… I wanted you to know what was going on. I didn’t want you blindsided by something like that…”
Her voice was still softly as her eyes watched his. She wanted to turn the night into a good memory for the both of them.

Lucas held on to her hand tightly as they walked through the night. Her delicate fingers laced with his. It made him happy that she liked his company, for they have been spending a lot of time together these past few weeks, and he certainly wouldn't want that to end. They got to the bench and Luke was about to sit down, pulling her down to sit next to him when she mentioned that her brother had set a date. He stopped, abandoning the action of sitting.
Luke turned to her, facing her and searched her face. He could tell in her eyes she didn't want to go. He felt like he needed to say something to make her feel better. Or find a way to somehow make this seem not so bad, even a good idea. "So soon?" He asked, taking her other hand in his. His eyes continued to scan her face, looking for any sign of how she was feeling, or what was on her mind.
"Well, perhaps we can work with it. For one, you get more time away from your brother. And although I've heard some odd things about the school, perhaps those bars would be better than his." He wasn't sure if that was true, bars were bars were they not? "And besides, I could always visit you. I promised it once and I'll keep it. I have my ways, my connections. I won't have any problem sneaking in, or sneaking you out." He smiled at her. He has had many girls that went to the school, and he got to become friends with the guards. So now all he has to do is perhaps cash a few favors with them, and they will let him do whatever he wants. As long as no professor catches him.
He reached forward, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, but he let his fingers linger on her face. His hand cupped her cheek, his other hand rested on her waist. There were surely worse things than going to St. Augustine's...right? He began pulling her close to him, his head tilting slightly down. The hand that was on her cheek, moved to wrap around her shoulders, bringing her head to rest upon his chest. And his other arm pulled her body closer to his in a tight embrace. He kissed her softly on the forehead, and kissed her again on the top of her head, letting his lips remain there for a minute.
He didn't want this night to be full of sadness. So he smiled and said, "We should make the best of this night then. No more frowns, until everything has been more set in stone, we should have fun whenever and where ever we can. " He leaned down, and scooped her up into his arms, carrying her. He did one quick circle, spinning her around, before placing her gently down right in front of the bench.

Krystin’s eyes shined softly as she looked up at the only guy she had allowed to know all of her, or at least almost all of her. Being around him tonight and hearing his soothing words made her relax as her head rested softly against his chest. Just hearing him talk to her about how the good things about being sent to St. Augustine, along with how he was going to keep the promise he had told her back during one of their first meetings. Looking back up at him, Krystin smiled softly before placing a soft kiss upon his cheek.
“Thank you Luke… Sincerely, for being the way you are…”
She kept her smile, even a soft chuckle left her lips as he spoke about sneaking in, along with possibly sneaking her out.
“Well then, it is a good thing you have those connections. If I never saw you after my brother took me to St. Augustines… I don’t know what I would do…Just… whatever you do when you come to see me at that place… don’t get caught… wouldn’t want you getting in any kind of trouble.”
She kissed his cheek again softly as her icy colored eyes watched him, glad for the fact that she was able to see him tonight. When his hand tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before lingering on her face and then cupping her cheek, Krystin closed her eyes as her head leaned slightly into his hand; enjoying the feeling of his touch. Both of her hands rested softly on his chest while his one hand rested on her hip. As he pulled her up against him, a sigh of contentment escaped her lips as she relaxed against him. She would never be able to find a single thing to complain about as she relaxed against him quietly.
When Luke scooped her up before spinning her in one quick circle; Krystin could not help but cling slightly to him as a soft laugh slipped from her lips. As he set her down in front of the bench, she couldn’t help but smile softly up at him, her soft hands still resting against his chest.
“I don’t think I can ever stay upset when I’m near you Luke… you know how to cheer someone up no matter what.”
